People Express will be at the Festival of Leisure on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June in our new royal blue marquee at Maurice Lea Memorial Park, Church Gresley from 1pm to 5pm. We will be showing films, videoing older people, running free willow and ceramic pendant painting workshops and talking to people about our work. So pop along, meet the staff and artists and join the fun!

People Express is currently working on: ‘Famous At Last!’* – a Heritage film project with older people, the UHT project *- supporting the rural primary school Heathfields to run their arts programme for children, their families and friends , The Culture Club – supporting the development of new writing including within the LGBT community, Time for a NAP – young people’s arts activities at The Old Post Centre in Newhall, SHOUT 2013*- helping the increasingly successful SHOUT community group set up arts opportunities over the summer for families with disabled children and their siblings, Snakes & Ladders – the creation of a 3minute film, written, shot and edited by local young women exploring issues around relationships (how to identify and deal with the snakes!), Summer Vibe and the Feelgood project – running arts and healthy living workshops for young people over the summer in Newhall and rural village Hilton, and BOOM!* – supporting a new street dance crew of local girls to perform at this year’s Dance in the Forest.`

Capacity:
The room can seat between 30 and 40 people.

The ‘Flamingo Art Dudes’ is a newly formed arts group run by young people from Overseal Primary School, Belmont School, Fairmeadows School and Granville Community School using pottery, printing, South Asian Dance, African singing, willow weaving and film making to help them to design a project that raises other girls aspirations.

Swadfest ‘10 is here with the popular Art Exhibition happening at the Town Hall in Swadlincote. The exhibition will take place on Wednesday 19th May to Monday 24th May.

They were created by members of the South Derbyshire Mental Health Association with the support of experienced artists Seema Gill and Richard Heley.
