Working with People Express, young people have developed a multi-cultural arts festival for the first week of summer! These young people have been through a process to be apart of this program. Firstly, they had interviews where they gave some good qualities about them-selfs and why they would be amazing for this program. After they were chosen, they met weekly to talk about what they would to se at the festival. They experienced a variety of artists and exhibitions to get a idea about what they would like to be included in the festival.
Learn about our Creative Young Producers:
Benjamin – aged 14
I’m Benjamin, I love studying the arts. I joined the young creative producers, to express my love for the different types of art. I play the guitar and ukulele in my free time and have lessons in school.
Mollie – aged 14
My name is Mollie and I am from a place called Banbury, Oxfordshire and I moved to Swadlincote in 2016. I wanted to become a part of the young
producers because I like art and I wanted to know more about it and where in the different parts of the world it comes from and what it means to people. I also play piano, dance and create my own artwork.
Jordan – aged 15
Hi my name is Jordan, I have lived in Swadlincote all of my life and have shown an interest in music. I decided to join People Express when a teacher at school convinced me to apply. So I went to the interview and decided I wanted to help as I am really interested in the organisation of festivals. I am currently doing a GCSE Music course at school and I’m really enjoying it. I am a drummer and a DJ.
Dani- aged 18
I’m Dani and I’m 18. I am from Burton on Trent and have just finished my A Levels. I’ve done lots of activities with People Express, such as African Drumming and spray art. I joined the Young Producers because I wanted to explore even more different artforms from around the world.
Harrison- aged 17
Hi, my name is Harrison, and I am 17. I live in Swad, I’m a practising graphic designer and I’m currently at college doing Level 2 Art & Design/media pathway. I have been volunteering with People Express for 6 months and I decided to become a young producer so I can learn skills such as budgeting, planning and organising and to explore different artforms from different continents.
